Inconel X-750 Filler Wire
Metracore Alloys Private Limited manufactures, supplies and exports Inconel X-750 filler wire to fabricators, turbine repair units and project contractors across India and overseas markets, alongside our bars, fasteners, flanges and welding electrodes. Inconel X-750 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy, designated UNS N07750 and W.Nr. 2.4669, strengthened by titanium and aluminium additions that form a gamma prime phase during ageing.
Chromium at 14.0 to 17.0% handles oxidation. Titanium at 2.25 to 2.75% with aluminium at 0.40 to 1.00% drives the age-hardening response, and niobium at 0.70 to 1.20% adds a further precipitation-hardening contribution alongside carbide stabilisation. Weld deposits hold strength to 704°C (1300°F) and resist oxidation to 982°C (1800°F), staying tough near -196°C.
Stress-relaxation resistance is why designers pick it for springs and loaded fasteners. We hold TIG rods, MIG spooled wire and coils from 0.8 mm to 3.2 mm under AMS 5778 and AWS A5.14. Gas turbine, nuclear and oil and gas work drives most demand. Send your diameter and quantity for a stock check.
Inconel X-750 Filler Wire Grade & Designations
Three designations appear on purchase specifications: Inconel X-750, UNS N07750 and W.Nr. 2.4669. Matching-composition welding wire is specified to AMS 5778, currently at revision K, which applies AWS A5.14 requirements. AMS 5698 and AMS 5699 govern spring-temper wire; refrain from quoting them on a filler order. AWS A5.14 classifies X-750 matching filler wire as ERNiCrFe-8, UNS N07069. AMS 5778 is written around that classification with tighter sulphur, cobalt and tantalum limits. ERNiFeCr-2 (UNS N07718, alloy 718) is a different alloy that is often chosen as an alternative filler for the X-750 base metal, but it is not X-750 wire.

Limits follow AMS 5778, which applies to AWS A5.14 ERNiCrFe-8 and has tighter sulphur, cobalt and tantalum controls. Titanium, aluminium and niobium control the ageing response, so verify the final values against the mill certificate.

Inconel X-750 Filler Wire Standards
Consumable standards and base-material standards are separate documents, and confusing them causes rejected consignments. ASTM B637 governs X-750 bars and forgings, not filler wire. Consumable references are AMS 5778 and AWS A5.14, with its ASME equivalent SFA-5.14, which applies depending on form, process and end-use code.
Why Choose Metracore Alloys Private Limited for Inconel X-750 Filler Wire?
Stock depth and documentation distinguish suppliers of nickel consumables. We hold X-750 filler wire in TIG, MIG and coil forms from 0.8 mm to 3.2 mm, serving both small repair quantities and bulk project releases. Each heat carries composition verification and a mill test certificate to EN 10204 3.1, traceable by heat and lot number. Packing is in sealed polythene, VCI wrap and wooden export cases.

Inconel X-750 Filler Wire Sizes
Diameters span 0.8 mm through 3.2 mm. Spooled MIG wire covers 0.8 mm, 0.9 mm, 1.0 mm and 1.2 mm, while TIG cut lengths come at 1.6 mm, 2.0 mm, 2.4 mm and 3.2 mm. Coil suits orbital heads. We cut non-standard diameters to order.
Properties of Inconel X-750 Filler Wire
Seven characteristics justify the premium over standard nickel fillers:
- High-temperature strength held to 704°C after ageing
- Oxidation resistance in air to 982°C via the chromium oxide
- Corrosion resistance in oxidising and reducing media
- Stress-relaxation resistance, holding bolt preload under load
- Chloride stress-corrosion cracking resistance when aged
- Cryogenic toughness to roughly -196°C
- Precipitation hardening from the gamma prime Ni₃(Al,Ti) phase
X-750 carries no molybdenum, so it’s wrong for reducing acid service.
Applications of Inconel X-750 Filler Wire
Inconel X-750 Filler Wire FAQs
What is the UNS number of Inconel X-750 filler wire?
Inconel X-750 carries UNS number N07750 and Werkstoff number 2.4669.
What sizes of Inconel X-750 filler wire are available?
Diameters span 0.8 mm to 3.2 mm, with TIG rods cut to 914 mm.
Can Inconel X-750 filler wire be used for TIG welding?
X-750 filler wire can be used for GTAW, the preferred process because heat input stays controlled.
Is Inconel X-750 filler wire suitable for MIG welding?
MIG application is suitable for overlay and heavier wall sections once the procedure is qualified.
Which filler metal is suitable for welding Inconel X-750?
Three options apply: AMS 5778 matching wire, classified ERNiCrFe-8; ERNiFeCr-2 (alloy 718) where higher deposit strength is wanted; and ERNiCr-3 where post-weld heat treatment isn’t possible.
Where is Inconel X-750 filler wire used?
Gas turbines, reactor internals, rocket thrust chambers and aerospace structures account for most volume.
What standards apply to Inconel X-750 filler wire?
AMS 5778 covers matching-composition wire; AWS A5.14 and ASME SFA-5.14 classify nickel fillers. ASTM B637 applies to bars only.
How does welding affect X-750 weld metal strength?
Welded metal reaches its designed strength only after heat treatment. Weldments are solution-treated at 1052°C for one hour, air-cooled, and then precipitation-treated at 704°C for 20 hours. Where the full sequence for sustained high-temperature service is specified, a stabilisation stage at 843°C sits between the two.
What certificates are supplied with Inconel X-750 filler wire?
Consignments ship with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate, plus a certificate of conformity on request.
How can I buy Inconel X-750 filler wire from Metracore Alloys Private Limited?
Send your diameter, supply form, quantity and specifications, and we will come back with stock position, price and lead time. Attaching your WPS saves a round of questions.
