ASTM B160 and ASME SB160 standards are followed in the manufacturing of nickel 201 bars. Their diameters range from 3.17 mm to 350 mm, and their lengths reach up to 3000 mm and beyond. They come in a variety of shapes, including square, rectangular, hex, and round. Bright, polished and black finishes are available to accommodate various applications. Strong resistance to acids and alkalis is provided by the alloy particularly under reducing conditions. It is also highly resistant to molten caustics and can handle dry chlorine and hydrogen chloride service up to 550 °C. The bars remain stable against intergranular attack above 315 °C when chlorates are minimized.
