Super Steel Duplex Bars

Super duplex bars are stainless steel bars with a balanced ferritic and austenitic structure. They provide remarkable strength and high resistance to corrosion especially in chloride-rich conditions. With higher levels of chromium (24–27%), nickel (6–8%), molybdenum (3–5%) and nitrogen (0.24–0.32%), they outperform standard duplex steels. These elements give them protection against pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. Super duplex steel also has a density of 7.8 g/cm³ and a melting point of around 1350 °C. Super duplex steel bars are produced in compliance with ASTM A276, A479 / ASME SA276, SA479. They are available in round, square, hex, and rectangular forms with diameters ranging from 4mm to 500mm and lengths from 1 to 6 meters. These bars are known for their high strength, superior corrosion resistance, and durable microstructure. The dual-phase balance gives them flexibility, wear resistance, and stability even in seawater, acidic, and other aggressive conditions. Their outstanding mechanical and corrosion resistance properties make them the preferred choice for industries that demand durability and performance.

These bars are used in different industries where reliability and safety are important.  As they can endure sour gas conditions they are used in oil and gas in wellhead tools, pumps, valves and subsea equipment.  Propellers, shafts, and rudders are examples of marine applications where strength and resistance to corrosion are crucial.  They are appropriate for mixers, tanks, and process equipment in chemical plants because they can tolerate strong acids like phosphoric, nitric, and sulfuric acid. Additional typical applications include water treatment facilities, desalination plants, pollution control systems, the manufacturing of paper and pulp, pump shafts, fasteners, and even the processing of food and vegetables where wear and erosion are issues.  In the manufacturing process, alloy and scrap are melted in an electric arc furnace, refined in an AOD converter, and then cast, forge, and rolled. Prior to final finishing, the microstructure is refined by heat treatment and solution annealing.
