Zeron 100 Forgings

Metracore Alloys Private Limited manufactures Zeron 100 Forgings to prevent early component retirement caused by chloride attack in offshore oil and gas operations. Every forging undergoes rigorous testing for corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and dimensional accuracy.

Zeron 100 (UNS S32760) is a super duplex stainless steel with a balanced austenitic-ferritic microstructure, and these forgings resist pitting, crevice corrosion, stress corrosion cracking and erosion in chloride-rich environments. High mechanical strength pairs with lasting durability, which suits demanding offshore, marine and chemical processing applications.

Common buyers include EPC contractors, marine engineers, desalination operators and international distributors.

What are Zeron 100 Forgings?

Zeron 100 Forgings are engineered by hot working UNS S32760 billets between dies. The process maintains a balanced dual-phase structure of roughly equal parts austenite and ferrite. Following forging, components undergo solution annealing at 1100–1140°C followed by water quenching to preserve this metallographic balance. Hot deformation refines the internal grain structure and eliminates voids, delivering high mechanical strength, exceptional chloride corrosion resistance, and high impact toughness. Designed for severe operating environments, Zeron 100 Forged Components provide long-term service life where standard austenitic materials fail.

Key Features

The following eight characteristics define how Super Duplex Zeron 100 Forgings behave in service.

  • Exceptional pitting and crevice corrosion resistance: A PREN above 40 places the grade in the super duplex class. Hot seawater leaves the surface intact.
  • High resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking: Advancing cracks lose their path at austenite-ferrite phase boundaries.
  • Superior mechanical strength: Yield strength of 550 MPa min roughly doubles standard austenitic figures.
  • Excellent erosion and abrasion resistance: Sand-laden production fluids wear it slowly.
  • Outstanding fatigue performance: Forged grain flow resists crack initiation under cyclic loading.
  • Good weldability: Fabricators join the grade with matching filler and it doesn’t need post-weld heat treatment.
  • Long operational service life: Offshore projects plan around 25 years of maintenance-light duty.
  • Reliable performance in extreme environments: Deep subsea pressure, splash-zone wetting and hot brine sit inside its working envelope.

Inspection & Manufacturing Standards

Zeron 100 Forgings follow a defined document set. ASTM A182 F55 covers forged flanges, fittings and valve parts for pressure systems, ASTM A473 applies to general-purpose stainless steel forgings, and ASTM A788 sets common supply requirements. For European buyers, all forgings are supplied in compliance with EN 10222 standards and accompanied by EN 10204 3.1 inspection certification that ensures complete traceability to each melt heat.

At the manufacturers’ works, ultrasonic testing (UT) checks internal soundness and PMI testing verifies alloy identity. Mechanical testing confirms strength. Ferrite content testing proves phase balance, then dimensional inspection and visual examination close each release.

Advantages of Zeron 100 Forgings

Choosing Zeron 100 Forgings delivers six critical operational advantages over lower-grade alloys.

  • Excellent structural integrity. Forged grain flow leaves no voids or weak planes.
  • Outstanding corrosion resistance in seawater. Surfaces stay pit-free through permanent immersion.
  • High load-bearing capability. Thinner sections carry identical design loads at lower material cost.
  • Reduced maintenance requirements. Slow degradation stretches inspection intervals.
  • Long equipment service life. Assets reach 25 year design targets without component replacement.
  • Cost-effective solution for aggressive environments. Whole-life cost undercuts repeated replacement of lower grades.

FAQs

What are Zeron 100 Forgings?
Zeron 100 Forgings are components hot worked from super duplex UNS S32760 stainless steel. They combine 750 MPa min tensile strength with chloride corrosion resistance.
Zeron 100 tops standard duplex on PREN (above 40), on crevice corrosion resistance and on strength. Standard duplex stays the cheaper choice for mild duties.
ASTM A182 F55, ASTM A473 and ASTM A788 govern these forgings, with EN 10222 and EN 10204 3.1 certification.
The range spans rings, shafts and discs, then blocks, sleeves and flanges, then hubs and valve bodies. Open die and custom components complete it.
Yes. A PREN above 40 qualifies the grade for hot seawater duty.
Offshore oil and gas, marine engineering, desalination, chemical processing, petrochemical refining, heat exchanger manufacturing, pump and valve production and subsea equipment all rely on this grade.
Yes. We can supply custom forgings produced to your drawings by our manufacturing partners, with testing, certification and dispatch handled in-house.
Every consignment ships with an EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificate. Third-party inspection can be arranged at the works.
