HASTELLOY® G-35® Coated Electrodes
Hastelloy® G-35® Coated Electrodes are used for shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) of Hastelloy G-35 alloy. Remarkable resistance to chlorides, oxidising or reducing acids and “wet process” phosphoric acid is provided by this nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy. These electrodes are reliable in chemical and fertiliser plants because the weld metal is resistant to stress corrosion, cracking and localised attack in harsh conditions. High-quality AWS A 5.11 ENiCrMo-22 Coated Electrodes that meet strict mechanical requirements such as an 85,000 psi tensile strength and a 25% elongation are available and stocked at Metracore Alloys.

These electrodes are classified under AWS A 5.11 ENiCrMo-22 and UNS W86035. They offer better resistance to solutions containing chloride, hot sodium hydroxide and “fertilizer-grade” phosphoric acid. While molybdenum provides moderate protection against reducing acids, their high chromium content enhances resistance to oxidising acids. Compared to stainless steels and nickel-chromium-iron alloys, Hastelloy® G-35® Coated Welding Electrodes show better resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. They are also used for overlaying carbon steel, offering extra protection in aggressive conditions.
Hastelloy® G-35® Welding Electrodes find use in phosphoric acid production, where evaporators face acidic and chloride-rich media. They are widely used for cladding and overlaying carbon steel, extending service life in corrosive environments. Industries such as chemical processing, oil and gas, petrochemicals, and power generation also depend on these electrodes for their durability. The production of alloy wire, flux preparation and electrode assembly are all part of the manufacturing process. For reliable welding performance solution-annealed G-35 alloy wire is used to make each electrode which is then covered with a specially designed flux.
