Monel 400 flanges is a nickel-copper superalloy known for strength and resistance to corrosion. In addition to small amounts of iron (1.0–2.5%), manganese (2.0% max), carbon (0.3% max) and silicon (0.5% max) the alloy is composed of roughly 63% nickel and 28–34% copper. Due to this unique blend it is very resilient and adaptable. The material has a tensile strength of 550 MPa, yield strength of 240 MPa, and an elongation of 40%, showing excellent toughness and ductility. It works well from below-freezing temperatures up to 1000°F (538°C) with a density of 8.8 g/cm³ and a melting point of 1350°C. Monel 400 flanges comply with UNS N04400 and ASME SB-564 standards. They are known for their excellent resistance to corrosion in steam, brackish water and seawater. They are reliable in challenging conditions because they retain their strength and durability in a wide range of temperatures. The alloy also offers excellent weldability and can be hardened only through cold working. In addition, Monel 400 resists pitting, crevice corrosion, erosion, and cavitation, which are common in high-velocity seawater applications. At room temperature, it shows very low magnetic properties, which is an added advantage in specialized equipment.

These flanges are primarily used in offshore and marine industries where resistance to seawater is important. They are utilized in offshore construction, seawater desalination facilities and shipbuilding. Monel 400 flanges are a reliable option for harsh chemical conditions because they can easily handle hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and hydrofluoric acid in chemical and hydrocarbon processing.
