Metracore Alloys manufactures brass pipe fittings on dedicated CNC turning lines that cut threads to gauge class in one production cycle. Two thread families are standard: the parallel BSP form checked against ISO 228 and the taper NPT form checked against ASME B1.20.1, so one order can serve pipework built to European or American practice. Sizes span 1/8 inch to 4 inches across ten fitting configurations, from elbows and tees through to compression types.

 

Free-cutting C36000 handles general plumbing duty in non-potable applications. For drinking water contact, low-lead grades such as C69300 or C87850 meet the 0.25% weighted average lead limit required in most markets. Hot-forged C37700 suits gas manifolds and heavier sections, while dezincification-resistant DZR brass, grade CW602N, protects against selective zinc loss in hot, soft, or chlorinated water. Custom machining is routine here: special thread combinations, extended nipple lengths, and hex profiles cut to customer drawings all ship against confirmed dates. What are Brass Pipe Fittings?

Brass pipe fittings are threaded and compression connectors that join, branch, reduce, or close pipe runs carrying water, gas, compressed air, and light oils. Brass itself is a copper-zinc alloy; copper consists of between 58% and 63% in our machining and forging grades, with zinc making up the balance, apart from small lead and iron additions. Brass doesn’t rust, since it contains almost no iron, and the surface takes on a thin protective patina. Its main corrosion risk is dezincification, where zinc leaches selectively from the alloy in hot, soft, or chlorinated water. DZR grades address this directly.

 

Parallel threads carry no sealing function themselves and seal against a washer, O-ring, or bonded seal at a flat face. Taper threads seal on the thread flanks as they wedge together. Compression joints seal through an olive squeezed onto the tube. Machinists rate free-cutting brass at 100 on the machinability index, the reference point for the whole scale, so threads cut cleanly and tool life stays long. Decades of service are normal in non-aggressive water for a correctly installed fitting; soft, hot, or heavily chlorinated supplies call for DZR grades.
