Inconel Forgings
Metracore Alloys Private Limited supplies Inconel Forgings to fabricators, EPC contractors and equipment builders across India and export markets. The range covers Inconel 600, 601, 625, 718 and X-750 as open-die, closed-die and ring-rolled forgings. Chromium between 14% and 25% builds the oxide scale behind its oxidation resistance. Alloy 601 adds 1.0 to 1.7% aluminium for cyclic service to 1250°C, while alloy 718 relies on niobium, achieving over 1240 MPa in tensile strength after ageing. Forging aligns grain flow with the contour, so Inconel Forged Parts hold fatigue performance that castings rarely match. Forms include rings, shafts, discs, bars, blocks and parts made to drawing, supplied against ASTM B564, ASTM B637, ASME SB and AMS specifications. Aerospace, gas turbine, power, oil and gas, petrochemical and marine work all draw on these alloys, and consignments ship with a mill test certificate that is traceable to the heat. Send drawings or a specification sheet for a quotation on grade, size and quantity.
Inconel Forgings Grades
Five grades cover most forging demand, and their properties differ enough that substitution should never happen casually.
Inconel 600 (UNS N06600) holds a minimum of 72% nickel with 14 to 17% chromium, resisting stress corrosion caused by chloride ions in furnace parts and retorts.
Inconel 601 (UNS N06601) shifts to 58 to 63% nickel, 21 to 25% chromium and 1.0 to 1.7% aluminium. The aluminium forms an alumina-rich scale that resists spallation under thermal cycling.
Inconel 625 (UNS N06625) combines 58% nickel minimum, 20 to 23% chromium, 8 to 10% molybdenum and 3.15 to 4.15% niobium plus tantalum. Molybdenum and niobium stiffen the matrix without ageing, so seawater and sour service equipment favour them.
Inconel 718 (UNS N07718) carries 50 to 55% nickel and 4.75 to 5.50% niobium, ageing to the highest strength here. Above roughly 650°C, its gamma double prime phase converts toward the delta phase, so 718 isn’t right beyond 700°C.
Inconel X-750 (UNS N07750) contains a minimum of 70% nickel with 2.25 to 2.75% titanium. Its gamma prime phase holds tensile and creep-rupture strength to about 700°C, with usable stress-rupture strength to around 816°C after the right heat treatment; hence, its use in springs and sealing rings.

Technical Details of Inconel Forgings
Inconel Forgings Standards
ASTM B564 governs nickel alloy forgings and covers UNS N06600 and UNS N06625. Alloy 625 comes in two conditions: Grade 1 is annealed for service below 593°C. Grade 2 is solution-annealed for service above 593°C, where creep and rupture resistance matter. ASTM B637 covers the precipitation-hardening grades, while AMS 5715 applies to alloy 601 forgings and rings. ASME SB-564 and SB-637 mirror these for code work. ASTM B462 lists none of the five grades, so quoting it is a specification error.
Inconel Forgings Sizes
Sizing depends on the product form rather than on one table. Rings need an outside diameter, an inside diameter and a height. Shafts need diameter and length; discs need size and thickness; blocks need length, width and height. Forging weight and finished dimensions belong on the enquiry, with the size range confirmed against the applicable specification.
Inconel Forging Manufacturing Process
Why Choose Metracore Alloys Private Limited?
Metracore Alloys Private Limited manufactures Inconel forgings in India against confirmed specifications. Heat traceability is the first thing to check when comparing suppliers, because a certificate that cannot be tied back to a specific heat is not traceable at all. Every item ships with a mill test certificate tied to the heat number, covering chemical analysis and mechanical results as delivered. Third-party inspection and witnessed testing can be arranged at the order stage. Send your drawing, grade and quantity for a quotation.
Benefits of Inconel Forgings
Grain flow following the part contour is the benefit that forging delivers, and it shows up in fatigue and creep behaviour. Strength retention separates these alloys from stainless steels: 718 keeps over 80% of its room-temperature strength at 650°C. Oxidation resistance comes from chromium and, in 601, from aluminium. In 625, the molybdenum and niobium additions do the same job in wet service, giving the pitting and crevice resistance that seawater and sour gas duty depend on. Forging closes porosity that casting leaves, though these benefits hold only when the grade matches the duty.
Applications of Inconel Forgings
Aerospace assemblies use forged 718 for engine casings, brackets and fasteners, where the strength-to-weight ratio remains high at temperature. Gas turbines specify 718 and X-750 for discs, rings and shafts. Oil and gas operators select 625 and 718 for wellhead components, valve bodies and subsea fittings exposed to chlorides and sour gas. Petrochemical plants apply 600 and 625 to reactor internals. Marine equipment favours 625 for seawater, industrial furnaces take 601 for retorts and radiant tube supports, and power, nuclear and general engineering account for the rest.

FAQs
What Inconel grades are commonly used for forgings?
Inconel 600, 601, 625, 718 and X-750 cover most forging demand. Alloys 600, 601 and 625 are solid solution grades; 718 and X-750 are precipitation-hardened.
Why are Inconel Forgings used in high-temperature applications?
Nickel alloy forgings hold strength where austenitic stainless steels begin to creep. Chromium builds the protective oxide scale, while forging aligns grain flow against sustained thermal and mechanical load.
Which types of Inconel Forgings are available?
Rings, shafts, discs, bars and blocks are available, produced by open die, closed die or ring rolling, alongside parts made to drawing.
What standards apply to Inconel Forgings?
ASTM B564 applies to solid solution forgings such as 600 and 625, and ASTM B637 covers 718 and X-750. ASME SB-564 and SB-637 apply to code work. AMS specifications cover aerospace procurement.
Can Inconel Forgings be customised to a drawing?
Yes, custom dimensions, machining conditions, heat treatment and inspection scope follow the drawing. Confirm rough and finished sizes at enquiry, as allowance drives input weight.
