Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings
Metracore Alloys Private Limited supplies and exports stainless steel pipe fittings for oil and gas, petrochemical, fabrication and infrastructure projects across India and overseas markets. Fittings move through our supply chain in austenitic grades, including the titanium- and niobium-stabilised types: 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 321, 347, 317L and 310S. Butt weld sizes run from NPS 1/2 to NPS 48, while forged fittings cover NPS 1/8 to NPS 4. Chromium above 10.5% forms a thin oxide film that reforms on its own when scratched. At the 18% and higher levels in these grades, that film is why a 316L elbow outlasts carbon steel in chloride-bearing condensate. Every heat arrives with mill certification traceable to the melt.
Why Choose Metracore Alloys Private Limited?
Metracore Alloys Private Limited works as a stainless steel pipe fittings supplier and exporter alongside our flanges, forgings and fasteners business, so one enquiry closes out a complete joint rather than a single component. Stock covers nine fitting types across eight grades in all three connection formats. Material comes from mills we have bought from for years, and each consignment carries documentation linking the fitting to its heat number. Dimensional inspection, hardness checks and IGC testing happen before despatch. Fittings are shipped crated for sea freight.

Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings Types
Seven fitting shapes cover most stainless piping work: elbows, tees, reducers, crosses, couplings, caps and unions. Each is supplied in the connection formats where it exists, butt weld under ASME B16.9 and socket weld or threaded under ASME B16.11, with unions to MSS SP-83.

Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings Grades
Six grade families cover the majority of enquiries reaching a stainless steel pipe fittings supplier.
304 and 304L: Chromium at 18% and nickel at 8% resist corrosion in water, steam and mild chemical duty. The 304L variant holds carbon under 0.030% and resists weld decay.
316 and 316L: Molybdenum at 2 to 3% raises pitting resistance in chlorides such as seawater and brine, making 316L the default for welded marine fittings.
321: Titanium stabilisation prevents chromium carbide precipitation between 425°C and 815°C. Exhaust systems and thermal cycling duty call for it.
347: Niobium stabilises as titanium does while holding strength better in high-temperature steam, as refinery and boiler piping demand.
317L: Molybdenum rises to 3 to 4%, extending service into sulphuric and phosphoric acid. Pulp bleaching and desulphurisation units use this grade.
310S: Chromium at 24 to 26% and nickel at 19 to 22% give strong scaling resistance in oxidising furnace atmospheres. Maximum working temperature for pressure duty is set by the piping code allowable stress table, not by the scaling limit. For ambient chloride service, 310S isn’t necessary; 316L performs better at a lower cost.
Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings Standards
Applicable standards shift with fitting type, manufacturing method, grade and application. A 12-inch butt weld elbow and a 1-inch socket weld coupling are governed by separate documents, even though they belong to the same grade.
- ASME B16.9 governs dimensions and tolerances for wrought butt-weld fittings.
- ASME B16.11 covers forged socket-weld and threaded fittings by class.
- ASME B16.28 applies to short-radius elbows and returns.
- ASTM A403 specifies wrought austenitic stainless material for pressure piping fittings, WP grades against ASME dimensions and CR grades against MSS dimensions.
- ASTM A182 specifies forged stainless material for flanges, fittings and valve parts in high-temperature service.
- MSS SP-43 addresses lightweight fittings in schedules 5S and 10S.
- EN 10253 applies where a project follows European practice.
Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings Sizes
Butt weld fittings span NPS 1/2 to NPS 48, equivalent to DN 15 through DN 1200. Wall thickness follows the matching pipe schedule, so a SCH 40 elbow in NPS 6 carries 7.11 mm of wall against an outside diameter of 168.3 mm. Schedules from 5S to XXS are available; thinner 5S and 10S walls are preferred for low-pressure hygienic lines. Forged fittings operate differently; instead of using a schedule, they are classified by pressure class, which ranges from Class 2000 to Class 9000 for sizes NPS 1/8 to NPS 4.
Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings Connection Types
Three connection formats leave our works, each matched to a different pressure and maintenance need.
Butt Weld. A full penetration weld fuses a fitting to a pipe, giving the strongest joint and an unobstructed bore. Most process lines above NPS 2 take this route.
Socket Weld. The pipe drops into a recessed socket and takes a single fillet weld. Small-bore high-pressure lines up to NPS 4 rely on it.
Threaded. Tapered NPT threads can be used without hot work, which is important in situations where hot work is not allowed, such as when welding permits are restricted.
